OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A pair of Air Force wrestlers concluded competition Friday at the 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, being held at Chesapeake Energy Arena, to bring the 2013-14 season to an end.

Sophomore Josh Martinez (Colorado Springs, Colo.), seeded fourth at 125 pounds, ended his tournament with a 4-3 loss to Lehigh’s Darian Cruz in the consolation bracket. Cruz held a 2-1 lead after one period, while Martinez tied it up at 2-2 at the end of two periods. However, Cruz, who chose the neutral position to begin the final period, came up with a takedown with less than 20 seconds remaining. Although Martinez earned an escape with six seconds remaining, he was unable to come up with a winning score, finishing the season with a 33-5 overall record.

Meanwhile, senior captain Devin Hightower (Colorado Springs, Colo.) also competed for the Falcons on Friday, dropping an 8-0 major decision to 15th-seed Ryan Loder of Northern Iowa in the consolation bracket. Hightower wrapped up the 2013-14 season with an 18-13 overall mark.
