NEW ORLEANS – Two members of the Air Force track and field team debuted on the nation’s “Indoor Bests by Collegiate Football Players”, the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today with the first rankings of the 2013 season. Senior James Chambers paces the pair with a fifth-place ranking in the shot put.

Chambers, the starting linebacker for the Falcons’ football team, is currently ranked fifth in the shot put following a career-best distance of 52’8¼” at last Saturday’s adidas Classic in Lincoln, Neb. Chambers, who has improved his distance in the indoor shot put by one foot during the first two weeks of the season, is fourth among NCAA Division I athletes.

Freshman sprinter Gavin McHenry, a defensive back for Air Force during the fall, is ranked 24th nationally in the 60-meter dash. McHenry, who recorded matching career-best times of 6.96 at the Air Force All-Comers Meet and again in the preliminary heat of the Nebraska adidas Classic, is ranked eighth among collegiate freshmen in that event.

The weekly “Indoor Bests by Collegiate Football Players” is compiled by the USTFCCCA and features athletes from all three divisions of NCAA football.
