HARTFORD, Conn. - Sean Ambrosie scored 35 seconds into overtime as Connecticut beat Air Force, 3-2, in an Atlantic Hockey Association game Saturday, Nov. 24, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. UConn swept Air Force in the two-game league series. The Huskies improved to 4-5-1 overall and 3-4 in the AHA. Air Force falls to 3-6-3 overall and 2-3-1 in the league.

UConn opened the scoring midway through the first period when Trevor Gerling scored on a rebound at 10:23. Evan Carriere's shot was saved by Jason Torf and Gerling scored his second of the year. Late in the first period, Air Force tied the game. Sophomore Ryan Timar skated the puck down the right side and his wrister beat Garret Bartus for his second of the season at 17:46.

Air Force took its first lead of the game, and first lead of the series, with 15 seconds left in the second period. With the Huskies on the power play, Air Force skated the puck through the neutral zone. Jason Fabian took a shot that was saved but senior defenseman Eric Artman hustled down the right wing and scored his first of the season.

UConn tied the game early in the third period when Cody Sharib scored on a wrap-around at the 3:04 mark. UConn outshot Air Force, 16-5, in the third period but Torf made 15 saves for the Falcons. The game headed into overtime tied at 2-2. In overtime, the puck was in the Air Force end and the Falcons' turned the puck over. UConn defenseman Tyler Helton intercepted a pass at the blue line and then took a shot from the right circle that was saved. Sean Ambrosie put back the rebound 35 seconds into overtime for a 3-2 Husky win. \ UConn outshot Air Force, 39-24, in the game. AFA was 0-for-2 on the power play while UConn was 0-for-3. Jason Torf made 36 saves for the Falcons while Garret Bartus made 22 for the Huskies.

"The fact is that we are not a very good team right now and we are not very well coached," head coach Frank Serratore said. "We gave up 39 shots tonight and three even-strength goals. That just can't happen. I told the team after the game that I let them down. I haven't prepared the team very well to play 5-on-5. We have to get back to the fundamentals and start playing better in our own end."

Air Force returns home to face Mercyhurst on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:05 p.m. at the Cadet Ice Arena. AFA then hosts RIT on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 6:05 p.m.
