Reno. Nev. -- Deonte Burton scored a game-high 22 points and Malik Story scored all of his 16 points in the second half to lead Nevada to a come from behind 74-69 victory over Air Force Saturday night in Reno, Nev. Kevin Panzer had 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Wolf Pack rallied from a 10-point deficit and outscore the Falcons 23-8 in the final 5:28.
Nevada (12-11, 3-6 Mountain West) trailed 61-51 with 5:32 remaining in the game after the Falcons had completed a 24-10 run capped by Kyle Green'sthird 3-pointer of the half to give Air Force the 10-point lead. The Wolf Pack answered with five straight points on a Panzer jumper and a three-point play from Story.
Air Force freshman Tre' Coggins nailed a three-pointer with 3:46 remaining to move the lead back to eight and a Taylor Broekhuisdunk with 2:31 left gave the Falcons a 66-59 advantage. Burton, who scored 18 of his points in the second half, tallied nine points in a 13-1 run and Marqueze Coleman's lay-up with 31 seconds left gave Nevada a 68-67 lead and the Wolf Pack held on for the win.
"We weren't real sharp all game," said Air Force head coach Dave Pilipovich. "We felt we were capable of winning. We were just out of the flow at the end and couldn't finish the game. Now we go home and will play two hungry teams nest week. There is no let up. We have to challenge ourselves."
Mike Fitzgerald had 17 points and six rebounds to lead Air Force (14-8, 5-4). Broekhuis had 13 points and Michael Lyons chipped in with 10, while DeLovell Earls pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.
