The Drowsy Chaperone (Don Ward)
Updated: 05/20/2013 - Two weekends left to catch one great show!
Ian Stewart hit a grand slam and Colorado pulled within two and a-half games of the NL wild-card lead by clobbering Pittsburgh 9-2. Both teams play again today.
Stewart went deep in just his ninth career at-bat to put the Rockies ahead 4-1 in the third. Matt Holliday, Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-WITS'-kee) and Brad Hawpe (hawp) also homered after Stewart belted the Rockies' seventh grand slam of the season. Tulowitzki and Hawpe hit back-to-back shots in the seventh.
Taylor Buchholz got the victory in relief of Elmer Dessens (deh-SEHNZ'), who allowed two runs over four and two-thirds. Buchholz improved to 6-and-4, giving up no runs over three and a-third.
Tony Armas Junior was chased in the fifth, charged with seven runs and eight hits. Armas is 2-and-4.
