Mike Cameron and Pete Laforest homered while the San Diego Padres were erupting for nine runs in the fifth inning of an 11-9 win over Colorado.

The Rockies open up a weekend series today against the Dodgers in L-A.

The Rockies led 6-2 with two outs in the fifth until Cameron belted a three-run homer and Terrmel (tur-MEHL') Sledge followed with a two-run double. Laforest added a two-run blast that put the Padres ahead 10-6.

Brian Giles added two RBIs as the Padres stayed three games behind the NL West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks.

Troy Tulowitzki (too-loh-WITS'-kee), Brad Hawpe (hawp), Matt Holliday and Garrett Atkins drove in two runs apiece for the Rockies, who are six games behind the D-Backs.

The rally allowed Clay Hensley to improve to 2-and-3. Hensley was reached for six runs and six hits in five innings.

Trevor Hoffman worked the ninth for his 30th save.

Jeremy Affeldt surrendered five runs without retiring a batter. He's 4-and-3.
