ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- Denver Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler has seen his first action on the field since breaking his foot in May.

Scheffler suited up and ran a few passing routes individually for about 30 minutes this morning, but didn't take part in any team drills or contact.

He says he's healed, and is simply working out the soreness. He also says he feels like he could have done more today, but Broncos coach Mike Shanahan says his second-year tight end is still NOT ready to return.

Scheffler became a favorite red zone target for quarterback Jay Cutler last season, making 18 catches and four touchdowns as a rookie last year.
