BOULDER (AP) - The University of Colorado football team has suspended three players after allegations of brawling, said sports information director Dave Plati.

Sophomore linebacker Michael Sipili, 19, was suspended indefinitely from the team after an arrest Wednesday on charges of second-degree assault and criminal mischief, Plati said Friday.

The arrest came after a fight in June. Sipili was out of jail on bond.

Sophomore defensive tackle Chris Perri, 20, will miss the first three games of the season. He allegedly had a role in the same fight. He also was arrested in July after police said he fought with teammate Taj Kaynor.

Kaynor, a 21-year-old defensive tackle, was suspended for one game.

According to a police report, Sipili and Perri were involved in a fight early June 16. The report said 22-year-old CU student John Antrim was walking with friend James Terry and three female friends around 12:45 a.m. when they passed a group of males.

One of the women told police she confronted Perri after he said something that offended her.

That led to the confrontation between Perri and Terry, police said. Sipili was accused of tackling and punching Antrim after Antrim tried to help Terry, according to a police report.

Antrim suffered three facial fractures that required surgery, the report said. He declined to comment.

Sipili and his attorney, Lou Rubino, could not be reached for comment Friday. Perri did not return a phone message left by the Camera newspaper in Boulder.
