COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - (KKTV) The NCAA officially began discussing the possibility of expanding the NCAA Tournament in men's basketball last fall.
The NCAA has yet to progress any further than just discussions of expansion, but Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson would rather not change a thing.
"I just don't think there is the quality and the depth to expand it out," Thompson said in a phone interview with KKTV. "I'm not a real fan (of expansion.)"
Currently 65 teams participate in the season ending tournament. Those who favor expansion would include 96 teams out of 347 total NCAA Division I programs.
