Rockies 6, Dodgers 2

DENVER (AP) -- Jeff Francis scattered seven hits over 7 2-3 innings, Troy Tulowitzki and Matt Holliday hit two-run homers and the Colorado Rockies beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Saturday night.

With Arizona's win Saturday, the Dodgers are only percentage points ahead of the Diamondbacks for the lead in the NL West.

Francis (11-5) has now won six straight decisions. He hasn't lost since June 8 at Baltimore.

The lanky lefty improved to 39-8 when the Rockies give him at least three runs of support. He's needed all that support, giving up five or more runs in four of his last six starts prior to Saturday night.

Francis gave up two runs, struck out five and allowed no walks. He was taken out in the eighth when Jorge Julio came in to face Jeff Kent with a runner on second. Julio got Kent to ground out.

Garrett Atkins hit a solo homer in the seventh, his 15th of the season, and also added a single and a triple. Ryan Spilborghs contributed an RBI single in the second.

Francis worked his way out of a jam in the seventh when Kent led off with a single and Nomar Garciaparra followed with a double. Francis struck out Matt Kemp before giving up an RBI single to Andre Ethier.

However, Francis got Mike Lieberthal and pinch hitter Russell Martin to each pop out to end the inning.

Kent extended his streak of reaching base safely to 37 straight games with a two-out RBI single in the fourth. Kent, who finished 2-for-4, has been on base with a walk, hit or hit by pitch in every game he's played since June 8. The streak is the longest in the majors this season.

Tulowitzki's 12th homer of the season came in the second inning. Holliday hit his 19th homer in the first.

Brett Tomko (2-8) allowed five runs and seven hits in six innings. Tomko entered the game having given up just one earned run in 11 innings since the All-Star break.

Holliday has now homered in two of his last three games. However, he's still struggling to find his pre-All Star Game swing. He's 13-for-52 since the break, lowering his average from .341 to .329. Holliday went 1-for-4 on Saturday night.

The Dodgers season-best streak of nine straight games with a homer came to an end Saturday night.
