TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A coroner says the foul ball that killed Tulsa Drillers batting coach Mike Coolbaugh hit him in the neck and ruptured an artery.
Pulaski County, Arkansas coroner Mark Malcolm says Coolbaugh died from a loss of blood to the brain, and that there was nothing medical personnel could have done to save him.
The 35-year-old Coolbaugh was hit Sunday night while standing in the first-base coach's box.
A foul line drive off the bat of Driller Tino Sanchez hit him.
He stopped breathing as the ambulance reached the hospital.
