Nuggets add Atkins, lose Blake

DENVER (AP) - The Denver Nuggets agreed to a deal with Chucky Atkins on Friday while Steve Blake is heading to Portland, according to reports.

The Denver Post spoke with Atkins who said he was joining the Nuggets, while the Rocky Mountain News spoke with Blake. Both newspapers posted their stories on their online editions Friday.

Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien and Atkins' agent, Andy Miller, did not return messages left by The Associated Press.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Atkins averaged 13.2 points and 4.6 assists a game last season for the Memphis Grizzlies. He'll join Allen Iverson in the backcourt, replacing Blake who told the Rocky Mountain News he signed a three-year deal with Portland on Friday.

Blake was acquired from Milwaukee in a trade on Jan. 11 that sent Earl Boykins and Julius Hodge to the Bucks. Blake played in 49 games for Denver and averaged 8.3 points and 6.6 assists. Blake played for Trail Blazers in the 2005-06 season.

Atkins, 32, has played for Memphis, Washington, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston, Detroit and Orlando throughout his eight-year career.
