Collier Clegg surpassed the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Colorado College from suffering its fifth consecutive setback.
The University of Dallas shot a sizzling .523 from the field and pulled away for a 94-76 victory in CC’s final non-conference game of the season on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers pulled to within 15-11 when Emily Wattman-Turner drained a 3-pointer 5:28 into the first half, but the Crusaders went on a 21-7 run to build an 18-point advantage with 6:00 remaining in the first half.
Clegg scored 10 points to help the Tigers trim their deficit to 44-35 with 1:49 to go, but UD scored eight of the final 10 points to take a 52-37 lead after 20 minutes.
Colorado College shot just .313 in the first half, while Dallas made 17 of 29 shots from the floor (.586) and 16 of 17 free throws.
The Crusaders took complete control by scoring the first nine points of the second half, part of a 15-4 run that gave UD a 28-ppoint advantage with 15:08 remaining.
Clegg finished with 21 points to pace the Tigers, while Becky Luetjen had 15 points and a team eight rebounds.
Cara Sczepanski paced UD with game highs of 26 points and 13 rebounds. Christina Kurt made all 11 free-throw attempts and finished with 19 points.
Colorado College faces a must-win situation on Friday night when the Tigers play host to Southwestern University. The Tigers are a half-game behind the Pirates in the race for the fourth and final spot from the Western Division in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament.
