HOUSTON - Brian Fuentes will no longer be the Rockies closer. At least for a while according to both the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post.
Clint Hurdle announced Saturday night that the former All-Star will take a break from the pressures of taking the baseball late in games.
Fuentes has currently blown four straight saves. His recent problems come on the heels of great success that saw him convert 20 of his first 22 save opportunities this season.
Fuentes will continue to pitch in the bullpen during his temporary demotion.
