COLUMBUS, OH - Bill Sweatt finally heard his named called at the NHL draft on Saturday. He was drafted in the second round by the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL entry draft.
Sweatt, who led all Colorado College freshmen with 26 (9g,17a) points in 30 games last season, grew up in Illinois watching the Blackhawks as a kid.
Chicago, which had the first pick of the entire draft on Friday evening and picked American-born Patrick Kane of the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights, made Sweatt the 38th overall choice by calling his name on their second trip to the podium.
The Elburn, Ill., native joins senior-to-be Scott McCulloch as Blackhawks draftees currently on the CC roster.
