COLORADO SPRINGS - Cheyenne Mountain alum Matt Presley got the call Friday from the Boston Red Sox.
He was drafted in the 24th round of the MLB draft. The call from the Red Sox woke Presley out of bed.
Presley was expecting to be drafted as high as the second round, but slipped likely because he had already committed to play college ball at the University of Arizona. Presley said he was asking a signing bonus of $500,000 to pass on college and jump into pro ball.
Presley tells 11 Sports he likely will proceed with his college plans and put off pro ball until 2010. That's when he can re-enter the MLB draft.
