DENVER (AP) Denver Broncos receiver David Kircus was arrested Monday on suspicion of second-degree assault after an altercation at a weekend party.
Kircus was released on $6,000 bail, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department said.
His attorney, Harvey Steinberg, did not immediately return a call. Broncos spokesman Jim Saccomano said any team comment would come later from head coach Mike Shanahan.
The altercation took place early Sunday, the sheriff's department said. Kircus had been invited to a party at a home in suburban Centennial but got into a disagreement there with the woman who invited him, authorities said.
The alleged victim, the man who owned the home, was struck in the face after repeatedly asking Kircus to leave, the sheriff's office said.
He suffered broken facial bones and was treated at a hospital, Sheriff Grayson Robinson said. His condition and the extent of his injuries were not available and his name was not released.
If convicted, Kircus could be sentenced to two to six years in prison.
Kircus, 27, signed with the team in January 2006.
