DENVER (AP) -- Ryan Shealy's broken-bat single to right in the 12th inning brought in the go-ahead run and Joel Peralta added a two-run double in his first major league at-bat as the Kansas City Royals beat the Colorado Rockies 10-5 on Sunday.
The Royals scored five runs off reliever Ramon Ramirez in the 12th inning. Ramirez (1-1) has surrendered eight runs in the last two days.
Shealy's blooper over the head of Jamey Carroll scored Alex Gordon from second. Gordon was hit by a Ramirez pitch and then stole second base.
Mark Grudzielanek's double down the line advanced Shealy to third and Shealy scored on Angel Berroa's squeeze bunt. Mark Teahen's single brought in Peralta.
Peralta (1-2) pitched two innings for the win. He struck out Yorvit Torrealba looking for the final out.
Shealy had three hits and two RBIs against his former team. Teahen finished with three hits -- including an RBI triple in the 11th -- and three RBIs.
The Rockies stranded 10 runners from the eighth on.
The Royals took one-run leads into the ninth and 11th innings, only to see the Rockies tie it back up.
Troy Tulowitzki started the 11th with a walk and scored the tying run when Emil Brown booted Matt Holliday's single to left.
The Rockies had two runners on and none out in the 11th when Peralta came in. He struck out Garrett Atkins and got Brad Hawpe to hit into an inning-ending double play.
Teahen's two-out triple to right-center had given the Royals a 5-4 lead.
Colorado had runners on first and second with two outs in the 10th inning, but Brandon Duckworth got Steve Finley to fly out to center.
Holliday's single up the middle off closer Joakim Soria with two outs in the ninth brought in Finley with the tying run.
Soria, who blew his third save of the season, got the first two outs of the ninth before giving up an infield single to Finley off Shealy's glove and then hitting Tulowitzki. Holliday's hit came on a 2-2 pitch.
Soria ended the ninth by striking out Garrett Atkins after intentionally walking Todd Helton.
Brian Bannister, acquired in an offseason deal with the New York Mets, was in line for his first win since April 16, 2006, against Milwaukee, but finished with his second straight no decision. He allowed three runs and five hits in five innings and matched his career high with four strikeouts.
The Royals finished the road trip 6-4 for their first winning tour of the season.
Colorado hasn't won a home series since the opening series against Arizona. The Rockies had won six consecutive interleague series since 2005 before dropping two of three to the Royals over the weekend.
Jason Hirsh went five innings before being lifted for pinch hitter Ryan Spilborghs in the bottom of the inning. Hirsh surrendered four runs and six hits and struck out three.
Hirsh picked up his first major league hit in the third. He was 0-for-31 with 20 strikeouts before his single to right-center field.
RHP Rodrigo Lopez (strained right elbow) will throw Thursday when he joins the team in Arizona. "We will evaluate him and go from there," manager Clint Hurdle said. ... RHP LaTroy Hawkins experienced soreness in his right elbow Sunday, a day after making back-to-back appearances for Triple-A Colorado Springs. ... Octavio Dotel threw a perfect ninth for the second straight game at Double-A Wichita on Saturday night. Dotel has been out since spring training with an abdomen strain.
