Why The Video Looks Shaky (Don Ward)
Updated: 06/18/2013 - We did a quick helicopter tour of the Black Forest burn area. Someone asked why the video looks shaky.
DENVER (AP) -- Livan Hernandez allowed four hits over seven innings, singled twice and scored a run in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 3-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Thursday.
The win gave the Diamondbacks two victories in the three-game series and their sixth series win of the year.
Hernandez (4-2) gave up a run while walking four and striking out two. He was 2-for-3 for his 30th multiple hit game of his career and a hit short of his career high.
He raised his season batting average to .333.
Eric Byrnes had an RBI single and triple. Chris Young had two hits and scored a run for the Diamondbacks.
Jose Valverde pitched the ninth for his 14th save in 16 tries.
Colorado wasted a good outing from Josh Fogg (1-5), who allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings.
Fogg has lost his last four starts and last won on April 25 against the New York Mets.
Young hit a leadoff double to left center in the first inning. Two outs later Byrnes singled off Troy Tulowitzki's glove at short to score Young.
Arizona added an unearned run in the third inning, loading the bases on singles by Hernandez and Young and a one-out walk to Orlando Hudson.
Fogg appeared to get out of trouble, but Tulowitzki booted Miquel Montero's ground ball to score Hernandez and make it 2-0.
Hernandez didn't allow a hit until the fourth, when Tulowitzki singled to center but was thrown out at second by Young when he tried to stretch it into a double.
The Rockies loaded the bases in the fourth on a one-out double by Matt Holliday and walks to Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawe with two outs.
But Hernandez got Yorvit Torrealba to ground out to short.
Tulowitzki's two-out RBI single in the fifth made it 2-1.
Tony Clark provided an insurance run in the eighth inning with a pinch RBI single off Jeremy Affeldt.
Notes: The Diamondbacks designated INF Donnie Sadler for assignment. ... X-rays were negative on the left wrist of OF Scott Hairston, who was hit by a pitch in Wednesday's game. ... Eric Byrnes has an 11-game hitting streak. ... Colorado Avalanche coach Joel Quenneville was a guest of the Rockies. ... The Rockies have won only one home series and one on the road.
