Colo. Springs Christian grabs 3A soccer title
Colorado Springs Christian grabbed their second boys state soccer championship in school history on Wednesday night. The Lions cruised by Denver Christian 3-1 to win the 2009 title. The key goal came late in the first half. Already leading 2-0, the Lions netted a third first half goal with less than 20 second remaining.

Colorado Springs Christian grabbed their second boys state soccer championship in school history on Wednesday night. The Lions cruised by Denver Christian 3-1 to win the 2009 title. The key goal came late in the first half. Already leading 2-0, the Lions netted a third first half goal with less than 20 second remaining.
Colorado Springs Christian, which also captured the top trophy in 2001, finished the season unbeaten at 19-0-2. Denver Christian was making their third finals appearance in four years but for the second time in that span, settled for a runner-up finish.
Dicks Sporting Goods Park will also be the site for Wednesday doubleheader as Classes 4A and 5A will decide their state champions. At five o’clock, defending state champion Rock Canyon is challenged by Niwot. Then at 7:30, the 5A crown will go to the winner between Lincoln and Fort Collins.
