Jesse Lewis and Jamaal Johnson rushed a combined 39
times for 296 yards while former Adams State College defensive standout Chase Vaughn ran for two goal-line area touchdowns as the Colorado State University-Pueblo ThunderWolves rushed for 362 yards and four touchdowns while dominating the Grizzlies, 41-7 in the football season finale for both teams, Saturday afternoon here at Rex Stadium.

Lewis, a 5-foot-6 tailback, who often took the snap directly in the
ThunderWolves' Wildcat offense, finished the game with 22 carries for
158 yards and a score while Johnson, who also stands just 5-foot-6,
totaled 138 yards on 17 totes.

Meanwhile, the ThunderWolf defense, led by Vaughn and Sedric Patterson, who made seven tackles each, came up with five turnovers while holding the Grizzlies to just 57 rushing yards and 201 total.

The ThunderWolves, who were playing at Rex Stadium for the first time
since 1984 when they were known as the University of Southern Colorado Indians, improved to 7-4 overall and to 6-3 in the RMAC with the win, good for a third place tie in the RMAC standings.

The Grizzlies, who had won five of their last six coming in, fell to 5-6
overall and to 5-4 in the RMAC. They tied with Mesa State, which fell
to RMAC Champion Nebraska-Kearney, for fifth place in the RMAC standings although the Grizzlies did defeat the Mavericks 19-12 two weeks ago in Grand Junction.

The ThunderWolves, who completed just four passes on 14 attempts
throughout the game, scored the game's final 34 points, 17 each in the
second and third quarter, after the Grizzlies had tied the game at 7 on
a 4-yard Stephen Baca (Denton, Texas) touchdown run with 3:40 left in the opening quarter and the ensuing David Van Voris (Elizabeth, Colo.) point after.

The ThunderWolves, who racked up 463 yards of total offense, had taken the early lead just 5:19 into the game as Johnson hit Ayrius Justin for a 67-yard pass on the Pack's second play from scrimmage helping set up Vaughn for a 1-yard touchdown run on his first carry of the season.
