Jeff Bzdelik is leaving the Air Force Academy after two successful seasons with the Falcons -- to take over the program at the University of Colorado. Although he said in a news conference Wednesday morning, "I love the Air Force Academy." He also said, "The reason I have these opportunities is the players." He told his players at the Academy that whether he's the coach or not, they're going to have a great season next year.
The 54-year-old Bzdelik guided the Falcons to a 50-and-16 record, an NCAA tournament appearance and a trip to the NIT final four last week.
CU athletic director Mike Bohn says Bzdelik agreed to a five-year contract worth $750,000 a year, plus incentives.
Colorado also paid Air Force $270,000 to buy out Bzdelik, who had four years left on his contract with the Falcons.
