The Colorado Rockies have reinstated catcher Yorvit Torrealba from the restricted list, where he's been since June 2.

Thirty-year-old Torrealba was put on the list to attend to family matters involving the kidnapping and safe recovery of his family members in Venezuela. He missed 27 games while he was away, including a short stint at Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Torrealba hit .267 with one RBI and a walk in his four games with the Sky Sox last week. The Rockies catcher is hitting .230 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI in 19 Major League games this season.

The Rockies designated catcher Paul Phillips for assignment to make room for Torrealba. Phillips started yesterday's game against the Dodgers and went 0-for-2 with a walk.
