Former Rockies pitcher Shawn Chacon has signed a minor league deal with the Oakland Athletics, according to mlb.com.

Former Rockies pitcher Shawn Chacon has signed a minor league deal with the Oakland Athletics, according to mlb.com.
Chacon, who is a Colorado native has been playing with the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League. Chacon, 31, had a 3-3 record with the Newark team, with a 4.29 ERA and 29 strikeouts, 16 walks in 42 innings pitched. The Newark team plays in an independent league, meaning it isn't affiliated with any major league team.
After Colorado Chacon also played for the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Åstros, Chacon went 45-61 with a 4.99 ERA in the major leagues. He was 2-3 with a 5.04 ERA last year in Houston. His stint with the Astros ended after an altercation with general manager Ed Wade and has not been in baseball since then.
Chacon was voted to the Major League All-Star team in 2003.
