Two football players at the University of Colorado are leaving the team, seeking transfers to schools closer to home.

Wide receiver Josh Smith and tight end Ryan Wallace have asked for releases. Both say they are homesick and would rather play closer to home.

Smith says he plans to return to California and pursue a music career and still play football. Wallace says he wants to be closer to family in Bowling Green, Ky.

Both will leave Colorado in good academic standing.
