KKTV Sports has learned Clint Hurdle will be fired as the managers of the Colorado Rockies. The team has called a press conference to announce the decision at 2:30pm Friday afternoon.
Bench coach Jim Tracy is expected to be named interim manager.
The decision to fire Hurdle comes on the heels of the Rockies getting swept by the Los Angeles. Right now, Colorado is 14 1/2 games behind the division-leading Dodgers.
Hurdle has been the Rockies manager for the last seven years, leading them to the first World Series berth in club history in 2007. He went 534-625 for a .460 winning percentage in his seven-plus seasons.
Since the Rockies' one and only trip to the World Series in 2007, where they were swept by the Boston Red Sox, Colorado was 24 games under .500 with Hurdle at the helm.
