U.S. figure skating champion Jeremy Abbott says he's leaving his Colorado Springs-based coach of 10 years and will train with former world champ Yuka Sato at the Detroit Skating Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Abbott has trained with Tom Zakrajsek at the Colorado Springs World Arena since 1999.

The 23-year-old Abbott says he's sad to be leaving Colorado -- where he's lived his whole life -- but is excited about his future and the opportunities ahead.

He also expressed gratitude to the World Arena, and said he wouldn't be where he is today without Zakrajsek.
