St. Mary's Girls Win 3A State Soccer Title

By  |

The third time proved to be the charm for the St. Mary's girls soccer team. After losing in the state title game in 2007 and 2008 they wasted no time claiming a championship with a 2-1 win over Alexander Dawson.

The Pirates came into the game as the number one seed in the state and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to two goals by junior Christina Whitelaw.

St. Mary's became the first team from outside the Metropolitan League to win the 3A title since 1998. It's their first soccer title and just the third state championship in school history.
