Corey Barnes pitched a three-hitter as Custer County won the Class 2A state high school baseball championship with an 8-1 win over Limon Saturday.
It was the second consecutive 2A title for Custer County (20-4) and its third title since 2001. Barnes also got the win in the 2008 title game.
Limon (13-6) committed six costly errors that led to four Custer County runs. Senior first baseman Chester Ewing had two of the Badgers' three hits, while junior Matt Brown had the only RBI for Limon on a sacrifice fly in the first inning, which came after Barnes had walked the first two batters.
Custer County second baseman Kyle Hershberger led the way for the Bobcats, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and one run batted in.
