Cheyenne Mountain won its 14th girls Class 4A tennis championship Saturday, while Sammie Watson of Kent Denver successfully defended her No. 1 singles championship.
Cheyenne Mountain won the championship easily with 69 points, besting Fossil Ridge (38) and Regis (31).
Watson, a sophomore, won her second straight title after beating Jessika Mozia of Colorado Academy 6-3, 6-0 at the City Park Tennis Complex.
Only three players have dominated the top singles bracket for four years, most recently accomplished by Michelle Leimback of Pine Creek from 2001 to 2004, and Cheyenne Mountain's Becky Varnum from 1995 to 1998.
