Justin Fontaine scored a goal with 7:08 left in the third period as No. 19 Minnesota-Duluth downed No. 13 Colorado College 4-1 in the first game of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association best-of-three quarterfinals last night.
Alex Stalock recorded 36 saves for Minnesota-Duluth (17-12-8), while Richard Bachman had 35 for Colorado College (16-11-10).
The Bulldogs scored twice in the first period, on goals by Josh Meyers and MacGregor Sharp. Jordan Fulton added a third goal for Minnesota-Duluth in the second period.
Eric Walsky scored the lone goal for the Tigers with 5:07 left in the second period.
The winner of the best of three advances to the WCHA final five in St. Paul, Minn., next weekend.
The Bulldogs tied the Tigers 1-1 and then beat them 7-4 in the teams' regular-season meetings Dec. 5-6 at the World Arena.
