Josh Dome scored 14 points and Tyrell Williams added 10 as Pueblo South beat Sterling 50-35 in the Class 4A state semifinals tonight at the Coors Events Center.
Pueblo South (27-0), the No. 1 seed from the South Central League, dominated Sterling (21-6), a top seed from the Northern League, from the start.
The Colts outshot the Tigers from the field, 39 percent to 33 percent, and did an impressive job limiting Sterling's potent perimeter attack. The Tigers were 6-of-13 from beyond the arc.
Sterling led just once in the game, 2-0. And after Williams tied it with a 6-foot jumper with 6:57 to play in the first quarter, Pueblo South took control.
Sterling was led by Kyle Appelhans with 11 points and Mike Janda with 10.
Pueblo South will play top-seeded Sierra (22-5) for the Class 4A crown Saturday at 6 p.m. on the University of Colorado campus.
