Carmelo Anthony scored 32 points, including the winning basket with 5.3 seconds left, to help Denver win its third game in a row, 114-113 over Oklahoma City on Wednesday night.
After Kevin Durant made a driving layup with 17.2 seconds left to give the Thunder a 113-112 lead, Denver called a timeout before getting the ball to Anthony, who drove to the basket and leaned in for a 4-foot shot that gave the Nuggets the lead with 5.3 seconds to play. Durant's shot at the buzzer from 25 feet missed.
Durant finished with 31 points and eight rebounds. Anthony had 11 assists to go along with his game-high point effort.
J.R. Smith had 22 points, Nene added 20 and Chris Andersen finished with 12 to help the Nuggets improve to 32-16.
The Thunder got 24 points from Jeff Green and 20 from Russell Westbrook, but dropped their third game in a row.
Meanwhile, it was the second time in two trips to Oklahoma City this season that Anthony has made a winning shot. On Jan. 2, Anthony's 3-pointer at the buzzer sunk the Thunder in a 122-120 win.
Wednesday, the Nuggets were without starters Chauncey Billups and Kenyon Martin and were playing the second game of a back-to-back. Billups missed the game with an ankle sprain he suffered Tuesday night in Denver against San Antonio. Martin was out with flu-like symptoms.
The Thunder led by 17 points in the first half, 11 points at the break, but Denver got to within one point in the third quarter, before the Thunder extended the lead back to five by the end of the third.
The Nuggets shot 50.5 percent for the game and the Thunder also shot 50 percent. But after the Thunder scored 70 points in the first half, they could only manage 43 after.
