N. Colorado edges Portland 76-73

Neal Kingman scored 18 points, including 5-of-6 3-pointers, to lead the Northern Colorado men's basketball team to a 76-73 win over Portland Tuesday night.

He was followed by Devon Beitzel with 14 points, Jabril Banks with 12 points, and Taylor Montgomery with 10 points.

Banks also grabbed seven rebounds for the Bears (3-5), while Montgomery and Mike Proctor each had six.

Northern Colorado led 42-33 at halftime and shot 50 percent from the field for the game.

Robin Smeulders led five Portland players in double figures with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Nik Raivio contributed 16 points for the Pilots (5-4), T.J. Campbell had 13 points, and Jared Stohl had 12, all in the first half. Luke Sikma reached double figures for the first time this year with 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
