The Air Force Academy and hockey coach Frank Serratore have agreed on a new five-year contract that runs through the 2012-13 season, according to an announcement today from Director of Athletics Dr. Hans Mueh. Details of the contract are still being worked out and are going through the Academy process.
Serratore has led the Falcons to back-to-back Atlantic Hockey Association championships and NCAA berths. Serratore is currently in his 12th season at Air Force with a 180-201-30 record. He is the winningest coach in Air Force hockey history, leading Air Force to a 19-16-5 record in 2006-07 and a 21-12-6 mark last season. The 21 wins are the most Division I wins in school history. This season, he has led the Falcons to a perfect 10-0 record and a national ranking of No. 12 in both polls, the highest ever in school history.
Air Force, 8-0 and in first place in the AHA, hosts Sacred Heart Friday-Saturday, Nov. 21-22, at the Cadet Ice Arena. Friday’s faceoff is at 7:05 p.m. while Saturday’s game is a 7:35 p.m.
