Prosecutors say a grand jury has indicted a suspect on murder charges in the 2007 drive-by shooting of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.

Denver District Attorney Mitch Morrissey said Wednesday that Willie Clark faces 39 counts, including first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Clark is in federal custody in a separate case. He is the first person to be indicted in Williams' death.

The 24-year-old Williams was shot and killed while riding in a rented limousine early on New Year's Day in 2007 after leaving a Denver nightclub.
