Coach Mike Shanahan said yesterday the arrest of former Broncos running back Travis Henry on drug charges is -- quote -- "really a shame."
It was Shanahan's first public comment on the case since Henry was arrested on Tuesday. Prosecutors allege he was involved in a cocaine deal.
The Broncos released Henry in June. Shanahan said his commitment was lacking.
Henry had signed a five-year, 22.5 (m) million-dollar contract with the Broncos before the 2007 season but was dogged during training camp by a sprained left knee.
A child-support case in Georgia also revealed that Henry had fathered nine children by nine women.
Shanahan says Henry got a second chance after making some mistakes when he was younger. But the coach says Henry didn't take advantage of that.
