Goalie Peter Budaj says the Colorado Avalanche are giving him a great opportunity by making him their starter.
He says he wants to show them they made the right choice.
The 26-year-old became the starter when the Avs let Jose Theodore bolt for Washington.
Avalanche coach Tony Granato says the team has been grooming Budaj for the starting role, and now he's ready.
He played in 35 games last season, going 16-10-4 with a 2.57 goals-against average.
Budaj said Tuesday the pressure of being the starter won't get to him.
He says he just has to do his best in every game.
