Prosecutors have filed charges alleging that former Denver Broncos player Billy Jenkins killed a motor scooter driver in a hit-and-run collision.
The Arapahoe County District attorney's office said Wednesday Jenkins faces charges of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene, driving under the influence and failure to provide insurance.
Authorities say 51-year-old Tracy Gill died when his scooter was rear-ended on Aug. 28 in the Denver suburb of Aurora. They say Jenkins ran from the scene but then returned.
Jenkins is free on $50,000 bail. His attorney, David Kaplan, did not immediately return a call.
Jenkins was on the St. Louis Rams Super Bowl championship team in 1999 and played for the Broncos in 2000-01. He retired in 2002.
