Patriots coach Bill Belichick confirms that he met with former Denver Broncos safety John Lynch, but says the nine-time Pro Bowler has not signed a contract with the Patriots at this time.
Belichick says he met with Lynch Wednesday and that the 36-year-old veteran took a physical.
Belichick says Lynch is not under contract with New England and that "if and when that happens," he would have further comment.
Lynch was released by the Broncos on August 1st. He said he parted ways amicably with the team after telling coach Mike Shanahan he wasn't happy with his reduced playing time.
This isn't the first time the Patriots have shown interest in Lynch. The team courted him in 2004 before he signed as a free agent with Denver.
He played his first 11 NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
