Avs trade Aebischer to Canadiens for Theodore

The Colorado Avalanche are trading goaltender David Aebischer to the Montreal Canadiens for Jose Theodore.
The swap marks the second time a high-profile goaltender has left Montreal for Denver. Patrick Roy departed in dramatic fashion after declaring he would never play another game for the Canadiens. He came to the Avs during the 1995-1996 season.
Twenty-nine-year-old Theodore has played in 38 games for Montreal this season, posting a 17-15-and-5 record. He comes to Denver injured with a fractured right heel bone, which he suffered during the Olympic break. Theodore is expected to recover by the playoffs.
Aebischer had a miserable month of December before turning it around in January. His record is 25-14-and-2 this season.
With Aebischer gone and Theodore injured, the Avalanche will presumably rely on Peter Budaj and Vitaly Kolesnik to tend the net.
