Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony is getting ready for the Olympics.
The U.S. basketball team practiced at UNLV on Saturday in the first gathering of the 12-member squad since it was announced Monday. Four players -- Anthony, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Carlos Boozer -- are holdovers from the 2004 Olympic team, which won the bronze medal.
On Sunday, the squad flies to New York, where it will participate in media events tomorrow.
The team will reconvene in Las Vegas for training camp July 21st and cap the week with an exhibition against Canada on July 25th.
The squad then leaves for China to play some more exhibition games. The U.S. opens preliminary round play in the Olympics against China on August 10th.
