Rockies 6, Brewers 4

Garrett Atkins tied the game with a two-run triple and Brad Hawpe gave Colorado the lead with a two-run homer in a five-run eighth inning, lifting the Rockies to a 6-4 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night.

Hawpe, who was activated off the 15-day disabled list before the game, hit the first pitch from left-hander Brian Shouse into the bleachers in right.

The loss snapped the Brewers’ six-game winning streak and spoiled a solid outing from starter Ben Sheets, who allowed five hits and a run over six innings.

Manuel Corpas (1-3) earned the win after getting out of a jam in the eighth and Brian Fuentes pitched a perfect ninth for his ninth save in 10 chances.

Milwaukee entered the eighth leading 4-1, but Guillermo Mota (2-4) gave up singles to Jonathan Herrera and Ryan Spilborghs, followed by Todd Helton’s RBI double.

Atkins’ triple easily scored Spilborghs and Helton to tie the game. Hawpe then delivered the game-winning homer.
