Former Washington Redskins running back Timmy Smith was in court Wednesday in Denver on a federal drug charge.
Smith told the judge he was changing lawyers. Because of the change, a hearing scheduled for today is now set for Monday.
Smith and his brother Chris face charges of possession of 500 grams or more of cocaine with intent to distribute. If convicted, they could face between five and 40 years in prison and a two (m) million dollar fine.
Prosecutors accuse them of trying to sell cocaine to an undercover drug agent.
Timmy Smith rushed for a Super Bowl record 204 yards and two touchdowns in 1988 against the Broncos.
