Colorado Rockies star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki suffered a torn tendon in his left quadriceps and could be out until the All-Star break if not longer, his agent said Thursday.
"Best case scenario is six weeks. The realistic one is a few months," agent Paul Cohen told The Associated Press.
He said team doctors will have a better feel for a timeline in a week after swelling and bleeding subside.
Tulowitzki, the runner-up for NL rookie of the year last season, when he led the Rockies to their first World Series, was injured Tuesday night at San Francisco and underwent an MRI on Wednesday.
