Avalanche forward Paul Stastny may have been trying too hard to score, and Ben Guite attempting to do too much once he got the puck on his stick.

The Colorado Avalanche had five players making their playoff debuts in a first-round series win against Minnesota, who feel like they emerged on the other side as grizzled veterans -- in part because of their growing stubble from their playoff beards.

With playoff-tested players such as Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg and Adam Foote, playing to their star potential, they helped calm down the nerves of the playoff newcomers, which also included Jeff Finger, David Jones and Cody McLeod.
