Colorado Avalanche announcer Mike Haynes will undergo surgery for a brain aneurism and will miss the playoffs.

Altitude Sports & Entertainment Network CEO Jim Martin said yesterday that St. Louis Blues play-by-play announcer John Kelly will fill in for Haynes.

Kelly was the play-by-play voice of the Avalanche for the team's first nine seasons in Denver before joining the Blues organization.

The Avalanche open the playoffs at Minnesota tonight.

Martin asked fans to keep Haynes and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
