Air Force falls in overtime in college hockey.
Justin Mercier scored 15:21 into OT to lift top-seeded Miami of Ohio to a 3-2 win over Air Force in the NCAA Division I Northeast Regional semifinals today.
Mercier collected a loose puck near center ice, cut around an Air Force defenseman and fired a shot under the crossbar past Falcons goaltender Andrew Volkening.
Air Force had taken a 2-1 lead at 8:34 of the second period when Josh Print collected a loose puck in the right circle, cut in front and slipped a shot behind goalie Jeff Zatkoff.
But Miami capitalized on a too-many-men penalty and tied the game on Carter Camper's score with 6:16 left in regulation before the game went into overtime.
