Colorado College 5, Denver 2

Colorado College won't have to share the MacNaughton Cup with any team this year.

The Tigers beat arch-rival Denver 5-2 on Friday night to clinch the regular season WCHA title. CC clinches the championship outright because North Dakota and St. Cloud skated to a 1-1 tie, meaning the Sioux cannot pull even with the Tigers no matter what happens on Saturday night.

The Tigers also will hold on to the Gold Pan for another season. The trophy is awarded to the team that wins the most points in the annual rivalry.

Scott Thauwald, Jack Hillen, Jimmy Kilpatrick and Chad Rau (two goals) all scored goals for Colorado College in the victory.
