Cody McLeod scored in the 12th round of a shootout to give the Colorado Avalanche a 3-2 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes. It was the longest shootout ever for both teams.

Paul Stastny scored in his first game back in the Colorado lineup. Marek Svatos also scored for the Avs in regulation. Tyler Arnason and John-Michael Liles had shootout goals to help the Avalanche snap a five-game winless streak. Colorado also moved a point ahead of Phoenix into ninth place in the Western Conference.
